photoAntioch Bible Church has taken on the mission of empowering the Church body to be involved in recruiting and developing families to consider adoption of older or minority children in foster care. They have also taken on the challenge of facilitating the placement of any child, infant to 18, without an agency fee. Focusing primarily on recruiting, supporting and training families to adopt, we view this program as a child rescue mission.

Moses is perhaps the most famous adopted child. He was an infant when Pharaoh ordered the slaughtering of all Hebrew boys. Moses' birth mother loved him dearly and hid him until she could no longer safely do so. Fearing for Moses' life, his birth mother placed him in a basket and, trusting God's providence, set the basket afloat on the river Nile. The Pharaoh's daughter heard Moses' cries and, putting herself at risk, she took him in. Moses matured in a secure, permanent environment in Egyptian culture, apart from the culture of his birth. It was in this environment that Moses developed the qualities and character that would one day enable him to become a great leader.

There are many faith-based organizations already successful in meeting the needs of children. The Moses Project will hold these groups up as powerful examples of what the church body can do. In that pursuit, Moses Project will target families interested in adoption through the processes needed to enable them to adopt. Orientation, education, home studies, and infant and child location will be provided for these families. They will also be supported after the placement has taken place and as they make family adjustments as their family grows, and as is needed depending on the circumstances of the adoption.

The Moses Project's ultimate goal is to see that all children who are free to be adopted are placed in permanent, loving, Christian homes. The Moses Project's founders believe that it is a wonderful thing for a child to be brought up by parents who are committed to Christ and the body of Christ. The Moses Project is dedicated to working with the Christian community to remove the barriers that have prevented adoption from being taken on as a pressing, moral issue.
