Antioch Adoptions

The goal of the Adoption Encounter program is to address the perceptual barriers to adoption. Communities need education! To address the barrier of fear and misperceptions, Antioch Adoptions will play a strategic role in educating the community about adoption issues. Through media, marketing, and speakers in the schools, churches, and civic organizations of our community, we will strive to increase awareness.

We will help our community to know what adoption is all about and how they can be a part of making sure that all children are cared for properly. We will also be involved in informing men and women who are unprepared for parenting about the viability of adoption as one of their options. A few of the areas of outreach that Adoption Encounter will be involved in are:

  • Adoptive family recruitment
  • School assemblies and classroom speakers on the subject of adoption
  • Sunday school curriculum for churches to use to increase awareness of the biblical basis for adoption
  • Radio, television, billboards, and print media promoting the institution of adoption.
  • Significant contact with social service agencies who serve relevant clientele helping them to promote adoption.
  • For communities that have not yet taken on this issue, the Moses Project will encourage them to devote one sermon a year to adoption. Individuals in congregations will be asked to commit themselves to the support of families who choose adoption.

Direct involvement with faith communities is the most essential part of Adoption Encounter. We will meet with church leaders and mission boards, and encourage them to take on domestic adoption as a mission, measuring success in terms of the increase in adoptions in faith communities. Antioch Adoptions sees tremendous potential in America's Christian community and is dedicated to working with them to promote adoption. Adoption offers an opportunity for faith communities to meet the needs of these children, while at the same time providing an example of God's love and kindness.
